Repairs to the bridge over Butternut Creek on SW 229th Avenue bridge are scheduled for Monday through Thursday [Dec. 28-31], providing weather conditions remain favorable, resulting in daytime road closures between Tualatin Valley Highway and Rosedale Road.

Beef Bend Road emergency repairs underway - Media Release

A sink hole developed on Beef Bend Road on Tuesday, Dec. 22, resulting in closure of the road 1.7 miles west of Hwy 99W. Travelers must use an alternate route.

Repairs to the 229th Avenue bridge and replacement of the culvert on Timber Road could begin with little or no advance public notice, as Washington County Department of Land Use & Transportation crews may need to take immediate advantage of any favorable weather conditions.

A culvert on Timber Road was washed out on Monday, Dec. 7, resulting in closure of the road 2 miles north of OR 6/Wilson River Highway.

Flooding caused by heavy rains is resulting in road closures and restrictions throughout Washington County. Those living in areas prone to flooding and landslides should be prepared to take action conditions worsen. Motorists are advised to use extreme caution.

County crews will make repairs on the butternut Creek bridge on 229th Avenue late in December. The road will be closed for up to three days for the daytime repairs, but will be open at night. Until the repairs are complete, the bridge is posted with a 25-ton weight limit.

A $95,000 grant to help reduce transportation-related injuries and fatalities has been awarded to Washington County’s Department of Land Use & Transportation (LUT) by the Oregon Department of Transportation (ODOT). LUT will use the grant to create a Transportation Safety Action Plan (TSAP) that addresses safety for all motorists, pedestrians and bicyclists. The plan will use County road crash data to help the project team focus on goals, objectives and tactics to make County roads safer.

The public is invited to comment on the top twenty URMD Safety Improvement candidates being considered for funding in FY 2016-17. Comments received by October 16 will be reviewed by the selection committee.

County crews will replace two culverts just west of Tanner Creek Road. The road will be closed to all road users from Sept. 8 through October 12. The Hagg Lake Trail will be closed at the work site from Sept. 17 through October 12.

Crews from Washington County Land Use & Transportation (LUT) worked diligently to make sure the crossing was replaced as quickly and safely as possible to ensure motorists, bicyclists and others reached their destinations with minimal delay, said Andrew Singelakis, LUT director.
