Scoggins Valley Road to close for five weeks
Original release: August 28, 2015
Scoggins Valley Road will be closed west of Tanner Creek Road from Sept. 8 through Oct. 12. The Hagg Lake Trail will be closed starting Sept. 17.
A contractor will replace two culverts during the closure.
The road will be closed to all road users – motorists, pedestrians and bicyclists. Travelers will not be able to get through the work zone. Signs will identify detour routes. Every effort will be made to complete the work as quickly and safely as possible.
Background
Culvert replacements launch the first phase of a three-year program to improve the perimeter roads around Scoggins Valley Park and Henry Hagg Lake. The program includes stabilizing five active landslides, replacing six culverts, upgrading guardrails, and paving Scoggins Valley Road and West Shore Drive including the widened shoulders.
Funding for the $12 million program is shared between the Road Fund (gas taxes) and the Washington County Department of Support Services. In addition, Washington County has applied for $5.85 million through the Federal Lands Access Program (FLAP).
