$95K grant awarded to Washington County for transportation safety plan

A $95,000 grant to help reduce transportation-related injuries and fatalities has been awarded to Washington County’s Department of Land Use & Transportation (LUT) by the Oregon Department of Transportation (ODOT). LUT will use the grant to create a Transportation Safety Action Plan (TSAP) that addresses safety for all motorists, pedestrians and bicyclists. The plan will use County road crash data to help the project team focus on goals, objectives and tactics to make County roads safer.

Will features such as bioswales, roundabouts, colored pedestrian crossings, narrowing of lanes and additional trees be included to improve pedestrian safety?

Pedestrian safety will be improved by providing a safe path for pedestrians to walk off of the roadway with vehicles. Regarding building other features or modifying the roadway, that is beyond the scope and budget of this sidewalk project. My CHL has expired. Do I need to schedule a "New" appointment and take the handgun safety course over again?

No, if you have been issued a CHL by Washington County and we are able to verify this within our system you would still be able to renew your CHL. If it has been 10 years or more since you were last issued a CHL we may need to see proof of citizenship, but there is no need to start over.

Although no additional classes or fees are required for a late renewal, remember you cannot carry concealed until the renewal license has been issued.
