What do traffic engineers, road maintenance workers, bike and pedestrian advocates, deputy sheriffs and firefighters have in common? A concern for public safety! And traffic safety is a huge component of public safety. Recently, concerned staff from three county agencies decided to pool their efforts, beginning with a new county-wide web presence where traffic safety information could be easily accessed. Launched in July, the web address is http://www.co.washington.or.us/LUT/TrafficSafety/index.cfm.
The site includes videos and links to information for drivers, bicyclists, pedestrians, neighborhoods with traffic concerns and even a Kids Korner. Public feedback and requests for topics are welcome; please email [email protected] with comments.
Washington County is committed to building and maintaining the best transportation system, ensuring the safety of all roadway users, and operating the county roadway system in a cost-effective and environmentally responsible manner.
