All affordable apartment communities have income guidelines, which can be found on pages for each property in the apartment communities page. In addition, there are specific requirements to participate in our voucher and housing programs. Each of our apartment communities screen applicants to ensure they meet criteria.

For most affordable apartment communities, you can contact the leasing office directly to see if there are apartments available. For properties operated by the County, waitlists are managed at our office. The contact information for each leasing office is listed here. Waitlists are currently opened every 2-7 years on average depending on availability. To see if current waitlists are open, please click here.

Emergency shelter programs are available throughout Washington County for people who are unsheltered. Unique sheltered programs are designed to help youth, families with children, medically fragile adults, couples, and even support people who have pets.

Washington County manages a centralized waitlist to determine which shelter program will work best for your needs, and the wait can be between 1 week to 6 months long. Please call Community Connect to get on the shelter waitlist.

There are limited resources to help income-eligible families pay their rent to avoid eviction or losing their rental home. Please contact Community Action to find out about eviction prevention resources and how to apply.

There are several drop-in centers available in Washington County to help people access basic needs like showers, food resources, hygiene supplies and connect with case management services to start working towards housing. See this list of available hours and locations for drop-in centers and access programs.
