Electrical power has been restored to county buildings in downtown Hillsboro.

Due to the loss of electrical power affecting several buildings in the downtown Hillsboro area, Washington County is halting all operations except for those supporting winter storm response, the animal shelter and emergency or other 24-hour services.

CPO 12c-Cornelius and West Dairy Creek cancelled its meeting for Tuesday, Jan. 10, 2017. The next meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, Feb. 14 at Free Orchards Elementary School, 2499 S Beech St., Cornelius.

Though the National Weather Service is reporting some warmer temperatures, and though some of the ice is starting to melt, road conditions remain hazardous. Washington County and Oregon Department of Transportation continue to encourage travelers to stay home, if possible.

The National Weather Service has issued a winter storm warning for freezing rain, sleet and snow through Sunday evening. Washington County is urging all travelers to stay home and off county-maintained roads during the storm this weekend.

Washington County will soon begin a two-year construction project to ensure that the Charles D. Cameron Public Services Building (PSB) will withstand a major Cascadia Subduction Zone earthquake. Construction will start in early 2017 and is expected to continue through 2018. Some County services will be temporarily relocated during construction to nearby office space in downtown Hillsboro.
