County Buildings Open but Please Travel Safely

County buildings are to open at their usual time today, but employees are urged to use caution and allow for extra time during this morning's commute as six inches to a foot of snow has fallen throughout the region.

Employees are encouraged to contact their supervisors if there are any questions about service curtailments affecting their work areas. If approved by their supervisors, employees may take paid leave for hours not spent working.

Please note that:

  • Snow removal in and around county parking lots has been underway for the last several hours, but the process will take additional time to complete. The P5 lot north of the Public Services Building and Parking Structure are the best options at this time.
  • Chains are required on state highways in the Portland area and in some cities. Traction devices are required on all county roads.
  • TriMet MAX service is operating with major delays system wide, including shuttle busing for portions of the Blue Line. Many buses are on snow routes. Please check http://trimet.org/#alerts/ before departing.

The public is asked to monitor the Washington County website or social media feeds to learn more about potential changes to hours of operation. Updates about the status of Washington County Libraries can be found at http://wccls.org/weather Updates about road closures and snow removal from the County road system can be found at http://www.wc-roads.com
