On June 11, 2017, just before 2:45 a.m., deputies were conducting field sobriety tests on a suspected impaired driver on westbound Highway 26 near SW Camelot Court.

On June 9, 2017, just after 8:30 a.m., a 14-year-old female Mountain View Middle School student was walking to the school bus stop near her home. An adult male in a vehicle pulled up next to her near the intersection of SW Crisp Drive and SW Millerglen Drive in the community of Aloha.

On June 9, 2017, just before 5:00 p.m., a man walked into the Umpqua Bank branch located in the 7300 block of SW Barnes Road in the community of Cedar Mill. He approached the teller, implied a weapon and demanded money.

During the 17 day enforcement “blitz,” Washington County Sheriff’s Office deputies made 1,176 traffic stops, which resulted in 954 citations, two felony arrests, and 449 warnings. Of those stopped, 126 were for seat belt violations, 553 for speeding, and 272 for use of cell phone. The Sheriff’s Office Traffic Safety Unit would like to remind everyone that proper seat belt and child restraint is the number one way to prevent injury or death if you or your children are involved in a crash.

Deputies serving the City of Cornelius responded to a disturbance with a firearm where one person sustained non-life threatening injuries. One suspect is outstanding as the investigation continues.
