The Major Streets Transportation Improvement Program Phase 3e (MSTIP 3e) Funding Program was adopted by the Washington County Board of Commissioners today [Oct. 4].

Roads will remain open during repair of the railroad crossing, but traffic on Tualatin-Sherwood Road will be reduced to one lane in each direction. Expect delays or use alternate routes during this overnight work.

Traffic across the 227th Avenue Bridge over Rock Creek, north of Quatama Road, is now restricted to one lane and a 13-ton weight limit is in effect.

Intermittent closures are expected on Gales Creek Bridge on Friday, Sept. 23.

The public is invited to comment on the top URMD Safety Improvement candidates being considered for funding in 2017-18. Comments submitted by Nov. 11 will be reviewed by the selection committee

The proposed updates to Ordinance 815 represent the first significant update to the County’s winery standards since 1990. The updates would reflect changes in state provisions and minor “formatting amendments” to wineries in the Exclusive Farm Use (EFU) and Agricultural & Forestry 80-acre minimum (AF-20) land use districts.

New weight limits on two County bridges are now in effect. The restrictions will remain in place until the bridges are repaired or replaced.

Several rural roads will be chip sealed this summer to preserve the road surface and extend the life of the road. This work will cause short-term inconvenience, but the result is a long-term benefit.

Timber Road between Strassel Road and OR 6/Wilson River Highway will reopen early following replacement of a culvert.

The U.S. Bureau of Reclamation's seismic testing of Scoggins Dam will impact traffic at Hagg Lake starting June 13. West Shore Drive across the dam will remain open, but only one-way southbound traffic will be allowed.

Lane closures on Brookwood Parkway, between Evergreen Parkway and Dawson Creek Drive, will occur the weekends of Aug. 19-21 and Sept. 9-11 for reconstruction of the existing roadway.

Purdin Road will be closed at Hwy 47 from Aug. 12 through September for construction of a roundabout at Hwy 47 and Verboort-Purdin roads.

Nighttime traffic delays at four Cornelius Pass Road intersections, south of U.S. 26, can be expected due to traffic signal shutdowns for installation of new traffic signals.

An open house for the Washington County draft Transportation Safety Action Plan is providing an opportunity for public comment.

When it comes to Washington County roads, safety is the No. 1 priority. However road maintenance funding - primarily from gas taxes and fees - is not meeting the growing need for road, bridge and culvert repair and replacement.
