An open house for the Washington County draft Transportation Safety Action Plan is providing an opportunity for public comment.

The TSAP, funded by a grant from the Oregon Department of Transportation (ODOT), is a collaboration among multiple agencies including law enforcement and emergency responders. The online open house, at www.washcotsap.com, provides an opportunity for the community to learn about the TSAP and to submit comments.

The plan outlines actions to improve transportation safety and end traffic-related injuries and deaths. It reviews transportation-related serious injury and fatality crash data on County roads to determine crash trends (types of crashes, functional road class, road-user type, etc.) After analyzing this data, action items are developed in order to reduce these types of crashes on County roads.

Transportation safety strategies are multidisciplinary and involve what are known as "the 4 E's" of safety:

  • Engineering
  • Enforcement
  • Education
  • Emergency Response

Comments will be accepted via the online open house through August 20. For more information, call 503-846-7800, or email [email protected].

Washington County is committed to planning, building and maintaining a great transportation system, ensuring the safety of all roadway users, and operating the County roadway system in a cost-effective and environmentally responsible manner.
