Intermittent closures are expected on Friday (Sept. 23) on Gales Creek Road for erection of bridge beams as part of the Gales Creek Bridge replacement project.
Up to three closures (about 15 minutes each) are expected between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. Friday. Flaggers will direct traffic; travelers should expect delays.
The construction site is located 500 feet south of Old Wilson River Road. The old bridge was narrow and showing signs of decay. The new bridge will have two 12-foot travel lanes with shoulders to accommodate cyclists and occasional farm equipment.
The $2.9 million project will be mostly complete in December; the contractor will apply the final layer of pavement in spring 2017. for more information, visit the project website.
Washington County is committed to planning and protecting the uses of the land and to building and maintaining a great transportation system, balancing care for the natural environment, economic development, safety and community livability.
