Traffic is back to normal on Cornelius Pass Road – 24 hours ahead of schedule – following cleanup of contaminated soil resulting from a gasoline spill caused when a double tanker truck overturned in January.

The public is invited to review and comment on the draft 2016-17 Road Maintenance Program.

Cornelius Pass Road to be impacted by cleanup project. Traffic on Cornelius Pass Road will be disrupted on Easter weekend as the County’s contractor completes the cleanup of contaminated soil resulting from a gasoline spill caused when a double tanker truck overturned in January.

Scoggins Valley Road will be closed for six weeks starting March 28. During the closure, two projects will be completed. A slide near Deacon Drive will be stabilized and subsurface drainage will be improved at the Stepien Road intersection.

About $5.8 million in Federal Lands Access Program (FLAP) funding has been awarded to Washington County for maintenance of about five miles of road surrounding Henry Hagg Lake.

Despite adverse weather conditions and holiday scheduling, Washington County Land Use & Transportation crews have been able to complete major road repairs on time.

A sink hole developed on Beef Bend Road on Tuesday, Dec. 22, resulting in closure of the road 1.7 miles west of Hwy 99W. Travelers must use an alternate route.

Moderate to heavy rain will accompany area trick-or-treaters in northwest Oregon this Halloween weekend. The rain is expected to start Friday morning (Oct. 30) and continue through Sunday (Nov. 1).

The Urban Road Maintenance District Advisory Committee recommended seven Safety Improvement projects for funding in 2016-17.
