Washington County has been recognized by the Portland Business Journal as one of Oregon’s healthiest employers for four years in a row.

Washington County Fleet Services has been named as one of the “Top 100 Fleets in the Americas” along with other significant accomplishments over the last year.

Some Washington County Support Services Divisions including Finance, Human Resources, Purchasing and Risk Management, have temporarily moved to accommodate Phase 2 of the two-year seismic retrofit construction project at the Charles D. Cameron Public Services Building.

Washington County’s Fleet Services Division, in partnership with the Washington County Sheriff’s Office, has donated a patrol motorcycle previously involved in a serious crash to the Oregon Department of Transportation for statewide community education.

Washington County Parks recently received two grants that will provide a variety of improvements to Scoggins Valley Park, home to Henry Hagg Lake in western Washington County.

Parents and other responsible adults must monitor their children’s activities at all times and ensure they wear properly fitted personal floatation devices when on, in or near the water.

Washington County will soon begin a two-year construction project to ensure that the Charles D. Cameron Public Services Building (PSB) will withstand a major Cascadia Subduction Zone earthquake. Construction will start in early 2017 and is expected to continue through 2018. Some County services will be temporarily relocated during construction to nearby office space in downtown Hillsboro.

Although Washington County buildings are expected to remain open, Thursday’s storm will prompt several departments and offices to reduce the number of personnel providing “counter-top” services throughout the organization.

Washington County’s Risk Manager, Eva LaBonte, was recently selected to serve on the Risk and Insurance Management Society’s Standards and Practices Council.

Following flood damage remediation work by County crews and contractors, the basement of the Washington County Justice Services Building in downtown Hillsboro is now back in service.

The Washington County Public Services Building (PSB) and the Law Enforcement Center (LEC) are the first of several County buildings that will receive critical seismic retrofits. Immediate occupancy of the PSB and uninterrupted use of the LEC after an earthquake will be a key component of the response and recovery efforts and would enable the community to regain vital services more quickly in the days and weeks that follow.

Numerous safety enhancements have been implemented at Scoggins Valley Park through collaboration with SafeKids Washington County and other community partners. Free parking at Hagg Lake is being offered on Saturday May 23, 2015 to anyone who brings a US Coast Guard-approved personal floatation device on that day.
