For the fourth consecutive year, Washington County has been recognized by the Portland Business Journal as one of Oregon's healthiest employers. The County ranked #10 among organizations of 1500 to 4999 employees, acknowledging the County's strong ongoing commitment to the health of employees and their family members.

Washington County works to emphasize and reinforce health awareness through the Wellness Program, which provides access to online personal health assessments, flu vaccination clinics, health-related workshops and other strategies which support overall health and wellness. By participating in the annual Wellness Activity Incentive program, staff can also earn points which qualify them for a lower premium for health insurance benefits. Critical to the success of the Wellness Program are the staff members representing various departments who make up the Wellness Committee. The committee is dedicated to developing resources, education materials and activities that support healthy lifestyle choices.

According to Human Resources Manager Steve Sanford, "The ultimate goal of our workplace Wellness Program is more than just lowering health care costs, as important as that is. We're also convinced that our efforts help to strengthen a culture of wellness within the organization, which in turn enhances teamwork and productivity. We are very proud to receive this award and will continue to make health and wellness of our staff and their families a top priority."

Washington County is an equal opportunity employer, providing a range of vital services and programs that enhance the quality of life for residents across the region. For more information regarding employment opportunities, go to www.washcojobs.org
