A Washington County Sheriff’s Office deputy was at Kaiser Permanente Westside Medical Center’s Emergency Department with an adult male who attempted to take the deputy’s firearm.

On October 3, 1974, 16-year-old Donald Bartron and 18-year-old Peter Zito, Jr., were murdered in the parking lot of the Oak Hills Recreation Center. On November 2, 2022, just over 48 years later, detectives arrested Steven Criss for those murders.

On Wednesday, November 2, 2022, at about 9:15 p.m., Washington County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a gunfire call near SW Augusta Drive and SW Imperial Court in the community of Aloha.

On Friday, November 4, at 9 a.m., the Sheriff’s Office held a press conference to provide an update on the 1974 murders of 16-year-old Donald Bartron and 18-year-old Peter Zito, Jr. The Sheriff’s Office will be joined by Peter Zito’s sister.

On Saturday, October 29, 2022, at about 9:45 a.m., Washington County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a report of human remains found in a wooded area near Hwy 6 and NW Storey Burn Road in the Tillamook Forrest.

On October 29, 2022, just after 3:00 a.m., Washington County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a fire at an apartment building in the 8100 block of Southwest Barnes Road.

On Thursday, October 27, 2022, just after 4:00 a.m., Washington County Sheriff’s Office deputies located Epifanio Garza after searching the Barney Reservoir area. He was found unharmed and returned safely to his family.

On Wednesday, October 19, 2022, at about 7:00 a.m., Washington County Westside Interagency Narcotics (WIN) investigators simultaneously executed eight search warrants at various locations in Washington, Clackamas, and Multnomah Counties.

On Thursday, October 20, 2022, at 5:00 p.m., Washington County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to an assault call near the 2800 block of SW 187th Avenue.

On the evening of Wednesday, October 12, 2022, Washington County Sheriff’s Office deputies learned that 37-year-old Jonas Patrick Briggs was located by his family. Briggs was unharmed.

On Wednesday, October 5, after midnight, Jonas Patrick Briggs was located in downtown Portland and safely returned home. The Washington County Sheriff’s Office would like to thank all involved for their support and assistance in searching for Briggs.

On Sunday, September 25, 2022, at 4:32 p.m., Washington County Sheriff’s Office deputies assigned to the city of Cornelius were dispatched to a stabbing in the 300 block of S. Cherry Dr.

On Friday, September 23, 2022, at 6:35 p.m., Washington County Sheriff's Office deputies assigned to the city of Cornelius got information that a wanted person had been seen near her home and then got into the passenger seat of a car.

On Sunday, September 18, 2022, at 2:36 a.m., Washington County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to recreational ATV crash near Chehalem Ridge Nature Park. When deputies arrived, they found 46-year-old Matthew Brown of Cornelius deceased.

On Saturday, August 20, 2022, in the early morning hours, deputies responded to a report of gunfire at the Sunset Strip Gentlemen’s Club located at 10205 SW Park Way in Portland. Deputies learned a physical altercation occurred between 33-year-old Joshua Michael Best and an employee. When Best was asked to leave, he threatened to shoot them. The staff member involved in the altercation sustained minor injuries.
