Eight pedestrian and biking improvement projects were recommended for funding in FY 2018-19 and FY 2019-20 by the Washington County Urban Road Maintenance District Advisory Committee (URMDAC) during its Oct. 18 meeting.

This week’s anticipated heat wave could result in pavement bleeding. "Bleeding" is the term used for the shiny, oily-looking film of asphalt binder that appears on a road during prolonged periods of high temperatures. Bleeding can cause roads to become somewhat slippery, which road crews control by applying sand.

Helvetia Road is closed between Dierdorff Road and Grossen Drive due to damage caused after a dump truck struck the trestle on Monday (July 17).

5 a.m. Jan. 13: Only one Washington County road - Cornelius Pass Road, south of Kaiser Road through Highway 30, remains closed for the morning commute. However, though road conditions are improving, travelers should expect icy patches and are reminded to drive with caution.
