Only one Washington County road remains closed

All roads in Washington County are open.

Crews have installed reader boards on Cornelius Pass Road, north of U.S. 26 and north of West Union Road making travelers aware that Cornelius Pass is closed in Multnomah County at Skyline.

Washington County crews are doing their best to continue to improve the condition of County-maintained roads while balancing safety, equipment reliability and community needs.

Only one closure or road restriction remains: Cornelius Pass at Germantown is closed due to a larger Cornelius Pass closure to the north in Multnomah County (between Skyline and Highway 30).
Crews have repeatedly plowed and sanded primary and secondary plow and sanding routes (PDF). These are roads that provide emergency responders access to critical facilities, such as hospitals, and to highways.
Plowing on those routes will continue as needed into next week. Crews will also be plowing additional collector routes to increase traveler safety. These are roads that connect neighborhoods to nearby centers, corridors, station areas and main streets.
To make the best use of the County’s limited resources, crews do not plow residential and local-access roads, except in extreme circumstances and only after primary and secondary routes are cleared.
Be aware that plowing and sanding does not remove accumulated, compacted ice that still remains on many County roads, including major roads. Travelers are urged to proceed with caution and, if possible, utilize snow chains or snow tires.

Looking forward: Localized flooding likely

The forecast calls for an increase in temperatures late Sunday into Monday, possibly followed by rain a day or two later. Be aware that localized flooding on some County roads is likely. Flood-related road restrictions or closures will be posted to www.wc-roads.com.

However, though road conditions are improving, travelers should expect icy patches and are reminded to drive with caution.
