Beginning May 3, Neighborhood Health Center will hold a walk-in teen clinic every Tuesday from 3-7 p.m. at the Hillsboro clinic located at 266 W. Main Street.

Washington County Department of Health and Human Services will present the 14th Annual Public Health Recognition Awards on Tuesday, April 5, 11:30 a.m., in the Public Services Building cafeteria, 155 N. First Ave, Hillsboro. A reception with refreshments as well as interactive, fun and educational public health displays will immediately follow the ceremony.

The Washington County Solid Waste & Recycling Program has released the new Garbage and Recycling Day tool to help residents find answers to common questions about curbside garbage and recycling collection service.

Washington County has announced its participation in the National Association of Counties (NACo) “Live Healthy” Discounts Program, which allows them to offer all county residents the opportunity to save money with discounts on prescriptions as well as dental and health services and procedures. The Women, Infants and Children (WIC) programs of Clackamas, Multnomah and Washington counties are launching a new method for families to get WIC foods. “eWIC” provides families with EBT (electronic benefit transaction) cards, replacing the paper vouchers currently used to get WIC-approved foods such as milk, eggs, produce and baby food.

Six-week series for caregivers begins at three locations starting in January 2016

On October 6, the Washington County Board of Commissioners approved new rules to protect the public’s health by reducing wood smoke. The ordinance goes into effect today, Friday, November 6, 2015. The ordinance is designed to raise awareness of wood smoke as a health issue and prevent unnecessary burning when the air quality is particularly poor.

Washington County Disability, Aging and Veteran Services Family Caregiver Support Program is sponsoring a free “Coffee and Conversation” on November 19, for seniors in the LGBT community. Their friends, family members and caregivers are also welcome to attend.

The annual ceremony takes place on Wednesday, November 11, 2015, at 11 a.m.

The 12th annual Washington County Family Caregivers Conference will take place on Friday, November 6, 2015, from 9:00 a.m. - 2:30 p.m., at Tuality Health Education Center

The Hillsboro Public Library recently donated 1,479 new books to Washington County Women, Infants and Children (WIC) for families to take home. This more than doubles their previous donation to WIC in February of this year.

Registration is underway for a free five-week family caregiver training series that begins September 2.
