On Tuesday, July 11, 2023, two Washington County Sheriff’s Office jail deputies were assisting with breakfast service in a Washington County Jail housing unit when an adult in custody attacked another adult in custody causing significant burns.

On July 11, 2023, investigators assigned to the Westside Interagency Narcotics (WIN) team received three awards from the Oregon-Idaho High-Intensity Drug Traffic Area (HIDTA) and the Oregon Narcotics Enforcement Association (ONEA).

Detectives with the Violent Crimes Unit were called to investigate suspected child abuse at a home in unincorporated Tigard.

On Friday, July 7, 2023, 32-year-old Meagan Bruce was found at the Washington County Jail. Deputies immediately attempted life-saving efforts, assisted by paramedics who arrived a short time later, but those efforts were ultimately unsuccessful.

On Thursday, July 6, 2023, at 3:00 a.m., a Washington County Sheriff’s Office deputy observed a silver 2022 Ford Bronco driving well above the posted speed limit. The vehicle, which was stolen, crashed at the Merlo MAX Station with four juveniles inside.

Lieutenant James Coley has been named as the chief of police of the City of Cornelius. Lieutenant Coley’s first day as the city’s chief of police will be July 1, 2023. Lieutenant Coley will be the 12th police chief for the City of Cornelius.
