Last night Sheriff’s deputies responded to a call of an accidental shooting in an apartment complex in the Garden Home area. Two men were handling an AR-15 rifle when the gun discharged and struck one of them. The man later died at the hospital. No arrests have been made at this time.

Deputies with the Washington County Sheriff’s Office will be working extra patrols for two weeks in February as part of a Seat Belt Blitz. Law enforcement agencies from across Oregon will participate in a two-week campaign to encourage the use of safety belts and child restraints in vehicles. The ''blitz'' runs from February 06, 2017 through February 19, 2017.

A man was tracked Saturday morning by two law enforcement canine teams after assaulting someone and trying to steal a car in Cornelius. He was later arrested.

A man was arrested this morning after deputies determined he had entered several unlocked vehicles the past two days to steal valuables. Some property has now been returned to owners.

Louis Jarvis Jr. turned himself in to the Washington County Jail where he is held on $50,000 bail. The Sheriff’s Office would like to thank the public and the media for their assistance with this case.

This afternoon, Sparkle Green was found safe in Portland. A concerned member of the public called the Portland Police Bureau who located Ms. Green safe within adequate accommodations. It was determined she was not in danger and was able to care for herself. The Sheriff’s Office appreciates the public’s assistance with this case.

Yesterday afternoon, a citizen tip helped sheriff’s deputies assigned to the city of Cornelius arrest a woman for stealing a large amount of mail.
