Washington County Sheriff’s Deputies will be on the roads providing extra patrol to enhance safety for this Labor Day weekend.

Detectives believe that Steven Douglas Rockett, 44, of Forest Grove, has engaged in inappropriate sexual conduct with numerous underage victims for many years. Detectives were able to gain enough information and evidence from the recent reported activity to arrest Mr. Rockett on August 23, 2013.

Sheriff’s Deputies attempted to stop a speeding vehicle where the driver struck another vehicle sending one person to the hospital. The driver fled and was later tracked down. He was arrested for DUII and other charges.

David Herman was arrested in connection with the April 4, 2013 crash that resulted in Kylie Hornych’s death. On August 22, 2013, a Washington County Grand Jury handed down a secret indictment charging David Alan Herman with Second Degree Manslaughter and Reckless Driving.

Sheriff’s Deputies responded to the 5400 block of SW 152nd Avenue in Aloha concerning a reported stolen wheelchair. The father told deputies that someone took his nine year-old daughter’s wheelchair off of their front porch.

A Washington County Sheriff’s Deputy initiated a traffic stop, and with the assistance of a Sheriff’s drug detection canine, he arrested the driver.

Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a crash where a vehicle left the roadway and crashed into the front yard of a house. There was only the driver in the vehicle. She did not survive her injuries.

Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a crash where the driver rolled the vehicle sending two passengers to the hospital. The driver was arrested for DUII and other charges.

Applications are being accepted for the next Citizens’ Academy begins Tuesday, September 3, 2013, and runs through graduation which is Tuesday, November 5, 2013. Classes are held every Tuesday evening from 6:00 p.m. to 9:30 p.m., with three weekend classes during each session.
