On Tuesday, February 18, 2025, at 8:19 p.m., Washington County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a traffic crash near the 2200 block of SW Golf Course Road. The caller, who went out to check on the crash, reported that a single vehicle hit a tree. The caller said the driver seemed uninjured but smelled of alcohol.
Prior to deputies arriving, the driver left the crash scene on foot. Deputies contained the area and began searching for the driver with a K9 and a drone.
While Corporal Akin and K9 Puddles were tracking the driver, the drone operator moved ahead and located the driver’s heat signature near a wooded area on a branch of the Tualatin River. Assisted by the drone, the K9 team found the driver, who was identified as 59-year-old Robert “Craig” Raymond of Cornelius.
Mr. Raymond was arrested for DUII and Reckless Driving and later provided a breath sample, which showed a blood alcohol content (BAC) of .09.
