High-Visibility-Enforcement Traffic Mission Wrap-Up

Over the St. Patrick’s Day holiday weekend, the Washington County Sheriff’s Office Traffic Safety Unit participated in a joint operation with law enforcement partners from the state, cities, and adjoining counties to conduct a high-visibility-enforcement mission (HVE).

The mission focused on five dangerous driving behaviors: speed, occupant safety, lane deviations, DUII-impairment, and distracted driving.

Sergeant Josh Wilson of the Traffic Safety Unity (TSU) said, “Missions like this save lives, make our roads safer, and are extremely important for reducing traffic crashes.”

Over 1600 traffic stops resulted in warnings, citations, and arrests. Washington County deputy traffic stops resulted in 313 warnings, 156 citations, and 20 arrests for DUII. We are grateful that Washington County had no traffic fatalities during this HVE mission.
