Deputies Looking for Victim of Road Rage Fight

Deputies are looking for tips to help identify the victim of a road rage fight.
Media release

On Friday, May 26, 2023, just before 6:30 p.m., Washington County Sheriff’s Office deputies got a report that one driver blocked the intersection of SW Farmington Road and SW River Road, got out of his car and punched another driver in the face. Multiple witnesses said the suspect then fled in his car after the victim drove away.

A witness got the suspect vehicle’s license plate, which was registered to a red 2004 Infiniti G35. A deputy arriving in the area saw a vehicle matching the description driving away from the scene. A short time later, the red Infiniti returned to the area and deputies were able to stop it. They arrested the driver, 21-year-old Carlos Garcia, who lives in Cornelius.

The witnesses said Garcia cut off a car at the intersection, got out and went up to the driver’s window of that car. He then punched the driver several times in the face, threatened to shoot him and reached for his waistband as if going for a gun. The victim was able to back his car away and drive around Garcia’s car.

That victim is still unidentified, and deputies would like to speak with him. He was driving a dark gray SUV with unknown Oregon license plates. Deputies are also looking for any other witnesses to Garcia’s driving or the fight itself. In November 2022, the Hillsboro Police Department arrested Garcia for similar behavior after he pointed a gun at two people.

Deputies booked Garcia into jail on one count of disorderly conduct and additional charges are possible as the investigation continues.

If you have any information or know the identity of the person Garcia punched, please call the Sheriff’s Office at 503-846-2700.
