Eight URMD safety improvement projects recommended for FY 2017-18

Scotch Church Road will be closed at Jackson School Road from Nov. 21-Feb. 18, 2017, for the construction of a roundabout at Jackson School, Scotch Church and Meek roads.

An open house about improvements planned for SW 198th Avenue will be 5-7 p.m. Nov. 17 at Edwards Aloha Community Center, 4375 SW Edwards Place.

Significant traffic delays on Cornelius Pass Road and U.S. 26 resulted from paving work associated with the Cornelius Pass Road widening project this morning (10/28).

An ordinance that includes regulations addressing commercial recreational marijuana activity was adopted by the Washington County Board of Commissioners on Tuesday (Oct. 25).

Meek Road will be closed at Jackson School Road from Nov. 3 through January for the construction of a roundabout at Jackson School, Scotch Church and Meek roads.

An interactive map displaying current emergency road closures and restrictions is now posted on the Washington County Roads webpage, wc-roads.com. This map will remain active while the storm is impacting County roadways.

High winds and heavy rains forecasts for the next several days could create hazardous road conditions. Travelers are advised to take precautions.

Nighttime paving on Cornelius Pass Road and intersections, between Cornell Road and U.S. 26, will continue weeknights through Oct. 15, and traffic signal detection loops will be installed through Oct. 28.

The Major Streets Transportation Improvement Program Phase 3e (MSTIP 3e) Funding Program was adopted by the Washington County Board of Commissioners today [Oct. 4].

Roads will remain open during repair of the railroad crossing, but traffic on Tualatin-Sherwood Road will be reduced to one lane in each direction. Expect delays or use alternate routes during this overnight work.

Traffic across the 227th Avenue Bridge over Rock Creek, north of Quatama Road, is now restricted to one lane and a 13-ton weight limit is in effect.

Intermittent closures are expected on Gales Creek Bridge on Friday, Sept. 23.

The public is invited to comment on the top URMD Safety Improvement candidates being considered for funding in 2017-18. Comments submitted by Nov. 11 will be reviewed by the selection committee

The proposed updates to Ordinance 815 represent the first significant update to the County’s winery standards since 1990. The updates would reflect changes in state provisions and minor “formatting amendments” to wineries in the Exclusive Farm Use (EFU) and Agricultural & Forestry 80-acre minimum (AF-20) land use districts.
