The Washington County Sheriff's Office, in partnership with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, Oregon Department of Transportation, and Oregon State Sheriff's Association, will be conducting high visibility enforcement patrols looking for impaired drivers during the entire month of August.

A couple was arrested after a standoff at a home outside of Sherwood. An armed man confronted deputies who were trying to arrest his wife for driving under the influence of intoxicants. The Tactical Negotiations Team and Crisis Negotiations Unit responded to assist. He and his wife were later arrested on multiple charges.

Detectives arrested two men for sexually abusing a young teenage girl. Investigators believe there may be additional victims and would like to speak with anyone with information on these cases.

A 53-year-old man has been charged with murder after severely beating his father in early March. The 77-year-old man died at the hospital in early June.

A 23-year-old driver crashed into a North Plains storefront and struck an employee. Impairment and vehicle maintenance neglect are believed to be factors in the crash.

A pedestrian suffered critical, life-threatening injuries when she was struck by a vehicle on Pacific Highway south of King City. Speed or impairment are not believed to be factors in this crash.

During enhanced holiday patrols between the dates of July 1 and July 8, deputies arrested 22 individuals for impaired driving. Seven of those arrests occurred between the afternoon of July 3 to the early morning of July 5.

A Hillsboro man is in custody after nearly hitting a deputy while attempting to flee from a traffic stop.

During enhanced patrols in the month of June, Washington County Sheriff’s Office deputies arrested 78 impaired drivers. That equates to an average of over two and a half DUII arrests each day. Thirteen of those drivers were arrested for drug impairment.

During enhanced patrols in the month of May, Washington County Sheriff’s Office deputies arrested 73 impaired drivers. That equates to an average of over two DUII arrests each day.

Seven local law enforcement agencies from across the Portland metro area conducted a joint mission to proactively combat human trafficking in the region, resulting in 37 individuals being charged for prostitution-related crimes.

Deputies arrested a man and woman after a pursuit with a stolen car. The man driving was wearing a wig in a failed attempt to disguise himself and tried to flee on foot before a K-9 chased him down and deputies tased him. Deputies arrested the woman in the car as well.

During a two-week statewide traffic safety enforcement mission, members from the Sheriff’s Office Traffic Safety Unit conducted 504 traffic stops. Of those stops, 350 citations were issued, 150 warnings given, and four stops cleared “other.”

Between Friday, May 25 and Monday, May 28, Washington County Sheriff’s Office deputies arrested 18 impaired drivers. Deputies would like to remind the public that impaired driving is a preventable offense and to always designate a sober driver.

A Banks man was transported by air ambulance to a local trauma center after he crashed his off-road vehicle and it came to rest on top of him. He suffered life-threatening injuries.

The suspect of a violent assault was safety taken into custody after a five hour standoff in Aloha. The 62-year-old victim, a roommate of the suspect, is listed in critical condition.
