Sheriff’s Deputies responded to an early morning crash where a vehicle left the roadway and rolled after passing another vehicle.  The vehicle was occupied only by the driver who did not survive his injuries.  There were no other injuries in this crash.

Today, a man crashed into the rear of a car at a stop light and then fled the scene. Deputies located the suspect just after he ran off the road and rolled his vehicle. He received minor injuries in the crash.

Washington County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a domestic disturbance where a woman reported she had been injured by her husband. Shortly after the Sheriff’s Deputies arrived, the husband pointed a gun at them, forcing the deputies to respond with lethal force. The man was pronounced deceased at the scene.

On Saturday December 27, 2014, a Cornelius woman started a fire in the duplex unit she shared with two other people.  An additional three people lived in the adjoining unit.  The duplex is a total loss, all the residents are displaced and she has been arrested for Arson.

On Saturday December 27, 2014, Washington County Detectives arrested a Hillsboro man who was downloading child pornography while using free WiFi at a local business. He has a previous conviction for the same type of crime.

The Washington County Sheriff’s Office Jail Programs staff coordinated with the Washington County Re-entry Council (WCRC) to provide Christmas gifts for children of inmates.

Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a crash where a vehicle left the scene and shortly afterward crashed again. The driver was arrested and charged with several crimes.

Today, Sheriff’s deputies arrested a juvenile for rummaging through and stealing items from unlocked cars. Six victims have been identified and their belongings have been returned

A car jacking suspect was taken into custody today after he stole a car and injured the owner as he drove away. Police were able to locate the car and the suspect led them on a pursuit that ended with the suspect crashing.

Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a possible robbery with a firearm where three men were identified as suspects. Deputies quickly located and arrested all<br />three.

Youth Worker Arrested for Sex Abuse, More Victims Sought

Thanks to Cornelius Fred Meyer, 23 local children were given the opportunity to go holiday shopping with Washington County Deputies who serve the City of Cornelius. 

Sheriff’s Deputies arrested a man who is accused of driving the Mazda that struck and seriously injured Mr. Weise.

Sheriff’s Deputies have been searching for the person(s) responsible for stealing delivered packages off of porches. Package thefts increase during the holidays as many gifts are shipped and delivered to unattended homes and businesses. Deputies received a break in this case when a citizen reported their bicycle was stolen which led to the theft suspects.

Deputies made over 300 traffic stops for a variety of reasons and arrested 32 impaired drivers over the holiday reporting period. There were several impaired driving crashes reported, fortunately none of them involved serious injuries.

A Sheriff’s Deputy attempted to stop a stolen motorcycle that refused to yield to him, the man was ultimately arrested.

Washington County Sheriff’s Deputies are searching for a man after he allegedly broke into a residence and took property.

Sheriff’s Deputies arrested eight impaired drivers over the weekend enhanced DUII traffic safety enforcement. There will be another traffic safety mission announced for the upcoming holiday weekend.

Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a crash where a semi truck and a bicyclist collided.  The bicyclist did not survive his injuries.
