The Sheriff's Office in partnership with the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration is accepting unwanted medications at two locations on Saturday, September 26, 2015.

The Washington County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a helicopter crash near the community of Verboort.  The helicopter crashed just after takeoff and the pilot received only minor injuries.  There were no other occupants of the helicopter.

Washington County Deputies arrested a man who burglarized a home while the resident was present. The man was subdued by the resident until deputies arrived. He was arrested and charged with multiple crimes.

The Washington County Sheriff’s Office is asking the public’s help to locate a Rock Creek man who is missing and poses a danger to himself.

Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a report of a motorcycle rider that was missing.  The rider was later located deceased over an embankment.

Washington County Sheriff’s Office K9s and their handlers assisted patrol with tracking and capturing Reiner Schmolling, Jr., 37, who had a felony warrant for a parole violation. Schmolling is also known for shooting a Sheriff's Office detective and killing a Hillsboro Police Department K9 during a standoff in 1997.

A female rider on horseback was struck by a vehicle and suffered serious injuries.  The horse was killed in the crash.  Investigators had not determined the cause of the crash at the time of this press release.

The Washington County Sheriff’s Office responded to a training facility near the rural community of Timber.  A group was conducting training when the lead instructor was injured and was taken by Life Flight to OHSU with life threatening injuries.

The Washington County Sheriff's Office Community Public Safety Academy is accepting applications for volunteers to participate in this opportunity. The Community Public Safety Academy supports the Sheriff's Office effort to promote and preserve a safe community.

Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a possible burglary where the suspect fled in a stolen car.  He was located and arrested within minutes.

Deputies arrested a DUII driver that crashed into a tree, injuring his two passengers. 

A Washington County Sheriff's Deputy found Gary Bruce Walker, 59, from Tigard unresponsive in his cell.  Additional deputies responded and immediately began CPR until medical personnel arrived to assist and transported Mr. Walker to a local hospital.
