Sex Offender Released from State Hospital

The Washington County Sheriff’s Office was notified by the Psychiatric Security Review Board (PSRB) that Mr. Reynaldo Rios, age 63, has been released from the custody of the Oregon State Hospital (OSH) and will reside in Aloha. (See attached letter from the PSRB).

Man Accidentally Shot and Killed by Friend

Last night Sheriff’s deputies responded to a call of an accidental shooting in an apartment complex in the Garden Home area. Two men were handling an AR-15 rifle when the gun discharged and struck one of them. The man later died at the hospital. No arrests have been made at this time.

Seat Belt Blitz Kicks off in February

Deputies with the Washington County Sheriff’s Office will be working extra patrols for two weeks in February as part of a Seat Belt Blitz. Law enforcement agencies from across Oregon will participate in a two-week campaign to encourage the use of safety belts and child restraints in vehicles. The ''blitz'' runs from February 06, 2017 through February 19, 2017.

This afternoon, Sparkle Green was found safe in Portland. A concerned member of the public called the Portland Police Bureau who located Ms. Green safe within adequate accommodations. It was determined she was not in danger and was able to care for herself. The Sheriff’s Office appreciates the public’s assistance with this case.

Washington County Public Services Building Seismic Retrofit Project

Washington County will soon begin a two-year construction project to ensure that the Charles D. Cameron Public Services Building (PSB) will withstand a major Cascadia Subduction Zone earthquake. Construction will start in early 2017 and is expected to continue through 2018. Some County services will be temporarily relocated during construction to nearby office space in downtown Hillsboro.
