On Thursday, May 23, 2018, Washington County Sheriff’s Office deputies serving the City of Cornelius were notified of an attempted abduction of a 14 year-old female. Staff at Neil Armstrong Middle School contacted deputies after learning that one of their students was grabbed by an unknown male while walking home from school afternoon of Tuesday May 21, 2019.

On Saturday, June 1, 2019, the Washington County Sheriff’s Office, in partnership with the Sheriff’s Office Foundation, will hold the 14th Annual K-9 Trials at Hillsboro Stadium. This is Oregon’s premier police K-9 competition where K-9 units from throughout the region compete for the coveted prize of “Top Dog.”

On Thursday, May 16, 2019, detectives from the Washington County Sheriff’s Office arrested  William Offinga, 55, on one count of reckless driving and one count of felony hit and run related to an incident that happened on May 11, 2019 in rural Washington County, northwest of Forest Grove.

On May 3, 2019, Washington County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to reports of a kitten trapped inside a garbage can at Hillsboro Garbage Disposal on SW Minter Bridge Road in unincorporated Washington County, just south of Hillsboro.

Colt Burnes was located today in Oklahoma. Colt is currently in the custody of the Oklahoma Department of Human Services. Colt is in good health. Oregon Department of Human Services will travel to Oklahoma to take custody of Colt so they can bring him back to Oregon. Colt’s father, Gaige Burnes, was not located and is still outstanding.

On Tuesday, May 7, 2019, at 10:29 p.m., Washington County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a crash located at 1855 SW Edgewood Court in Beaverton.  Deputies were told a white BMW had crashed into a house at the location. When deputies arrived, they found substantial damage to the home and discovered the driver had fled on foot. 

On May 6, 2019, at approximately 9:00 p.m., Miguel Almarez Estrada turned himself into the Washington County Jail. He was charged with Unlawful Use of a Weapon, Criminal Mischief in the second degree, and five counts of Menacing. The investigation is ongoing. 

On Sunday, May 5, 2019, just after 12:30 p.m., Washington County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a report of a missing person in the 17500 block of NW Reindeer Drive in the community of Bethany.

The Washington County Sheriff’s Office is proud to announce the 200th capture for Corporal Micah Akin & K9 Stark! The dynamic duo logged their milestone capture on Wednesday, May 1, 2019 while assisting Forest Grove Police in tracking down a suspect.

On Sunday, April 21, 2019, at 12:31 a.m., Washington County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to an injury crash near the intersection of SW Tile Flat Road and SW Grabhorn Road in unincorporated Beaverton. It was reported that two vehicles collided head-on and that at least two people were trapped inside of a 1986 Audi 400.

On Saturday, April 13, 2019, Washington County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a report that a high school teacher had sent sexually explicit photos and videos to an underage student. A detective was immediately assigned to follow up.

On Wednesday, April 17, 2019, at 12:35 p.m., Washington County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a crash involving a motorcycle near the intersection of Northwest Zion Church Road and Northwest Milne Road. 

On Monday, April 15, 2019, Washington County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to reports of gunfire near Catlin Gable School located at 8825 SW Barnes Road. At approximately 12:16 p.m., a teacher at the school reported hearing a gunshot and saw someone run into a nearby home with a shotgun.

On April 10, 2019, Washington County Sheriff’s Office deputies received information from the Forest Grove Police Department that two wanted men were headed towards Aloha in a van with firearms and drugs.

On April 10, 2019, Washington County Sheriff’s Deputies serving the City of Cornelius arrested Sean Robert Tait in connection with a burglary that happened in July of 2018 at the Last Lap, at 1515 North Adair Street in Cornelius.

On Thursday, March 28, 2019, Washington County Sheriff’s Office deputies conducted an undercover mission to find stores selling alcohol to minors. The alcohol compliance mission covered stores in unincorporated Washington County, the City of Gaston, the City of Banks, and the City of Cornelius.

On Saturday, March 30, 2019, at 3:45 p.m., Washington County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to the report of a crash in the 19100 block of SW Pacific Highway near the city of Sherwood.

On Monday, March 25, 2019, Washington County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a report that a construction site had been vandalized near Banks. Several pieces of equipment were also stolen from the location near NW Davidson Rd & NW Hahn Rd.

On March 26, 2019, the U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force assisted the Washington County Sheriff’s Office by arresting a Portland man accused of sexually abusing a patient at a mental health hospital near Beaverton.

On Wednesday, March 27, 2019, at 5:55 a.m., Washington County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a traffic crash involving a horse on SW Tongue Lane, near SW 329th Place.
