Lobby closed for In-person Services
Building Services, Development Review/Current Planning and Long Range Planning will be closed for in-person services Dec. 25-27, 2024, and Jan. 1-3, 2025. Online and phone services and in-person appointments will continue, and staff will be working in the office.
Most of our services are available remotely - online, by phone or via U.S. Mail - 24 hours/day, seven days a week. Appointments are recommended for in-person services for Community Planning, Development Review/Current Planning and Transportation Planning. See Office Locations and Business Hours.
Community Planning
We coordinate County with local and state planning efforts and incorporate public and community-based organization involvement. We maintain the County’s Comprehensive Plan and update the Community Development Code, Comprehensive Framework Plan for the Urban Areas, Rural/Natural Resource Plan, Community Plans and Urban Planning Area Agreements.

Development Review/Current Planning
We work with developers, consultants and the public to make sure work is done safely and correctly. We review all development proposals to make sure they meet requirements in the Community Development Code, which regulates land use and development activities in unincorporated Washington County.

Transportation Planning
We prepare and update Washington County’s 20-year transportation plan. We conduct travel forecasting, oversee the countywide Transportation Development Tax and bicycle and pedestrian planning. We work with Metro and Oregon Department of Transportation on regional transportation issues.
