Media release announcing Scholls Ferry Road Daytime Milling & Nighttime Paving 2014
Media release

For Immediate Release: Thursday, August 28, 2014

Sponsored by: Department of Land Use and Transportation, Capital Project Services Division
A contractor for Washington County's Department of Land Use & Transportation will be doing paving preparation and paving work on Scholls Ferry Road between Roy Rogers Road and Teal Boulevard over the next two weeks:

  • Daytime pavement preparation (milling): Tuesday, September 2 through Friday, September 5. This paving preparation work will occur between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. each day and will primarily occur at the intersections.
  • Nighttime paving: Sunday, September 7 through Saturday, September 13. This work will occur each night between 7 p.m. and 7 a.m. Paving work is weather dependent and dates and times are subject to change.
During milling and paving work, one lane of traffic in each direction will generally remain available. The signals at each intersection will need to be temporarily turned off when work is being performed in or near the intersection. Flaggers will direct traffic through the intersections and work zone as quickly as possible. However, travelers should expect up to 20 minute delays or use alternate routes. During milling work, flaggers will attempt to flag school buses through as quickly as possible.

This work is related to the Scholls Ferry Road (Roy Rogers Road to Teal Boulevard) improvement project. The project is widening Scholls Ferry Road between Roy Rogers Road and Teal Boulevard to two lanes in each direction with a center turn lane. Additional improvements include bicycle lanes and sidewalks, street lighting and utility line upgrades.

The project is funded through phase 3d of the County's Major Streets Transportation Improvement Program (MSTIP). Construction is anticipated to be completed by December 31, 2014.
