The public is invited to comment on the Elwert-Kruger intersection project 5-7 p.m. Thursday, May 31 at Middleton Elementary School, 23505 SW Old Highway 99W.
The intersection of Elwert and Kruger roads, located near Highway 99W, will be reconstructed with a roundabout approximately 500 feet north of the existing intersection. Elwert Road will be improved to include sidewalks, bike lanes, street lighting and landscaping. Kruger Road will remain two travel lanes with paved shoulders.
Potential upgrades to the Highway 99W intersection, in coordination with the Oregon Department of Transportation (ODOT), will also be considered.
Project design has been expanded to include road improvements related to the construction of a future Sherwood School District high school on Elwert Road.
The project involvement opportunity, sponsored by Washington County Department of Land Use & Transportation (LUT), is open house format; no formal presentation is planned. Design and schedule information will be on display. County and city staff and the project design team will be present to answer questions and solicit comments.
This project is funded through the County's Major Streets Transportation Improvement Program (MSTIP) with additional funding from the Sherwood School District.
Project is in design; construction is planned for 2019-2020. Dates are estimates and subject to change.
