For Immediate Release: Tuesday, May 05, 2015

Sponsored by: Department of Land Use and Transportation
Washington County's Department of Land Use & Transportation invites the public to attend a project open house on May 13, 2015 for the upcoming Gales Creek Road bridge replacement project. The event will be held at the Gales Creek Fire Station, 52155 NW Old Wilson River Road. The public is invited to stop by anytime between 5 and 7 p.m. to learn more about the project. Project staff will be available to answer questions and solicit comments. No formal presentation is planned.

The existing bridge on Gales Creek Road over Gales Creek, located 500 feet south of Old Wilson River Road, is structurally deficient (showing signs of decay) and functionally obsolete (very narrow). This project will replace the existing bridge with a new structure that will be built above the flood plain and widened to provide two 12-foot wide travel lanes with shoulders to accommodate cyclists and occasional farm equipment. Construction is scheduled to begin in spring 2016.

Funding for this project is provided through the County's Major Streets Transportation Improvement Program (MSTIP).

For more information, visit the project website, or contact Kim Haughn, Public Information Officer, at 503-846-7822 or [email protected].

If you need a sign language interpreter, assistive listening device, or a language interpreter, please call 503-846-7800 (or 7-1-1 for Telecommunications Relay Service) at least 48 hours prior to this event.

Washington County is committed to planning, building and maintaining a great transportation system, ensuring the safety of all roadway users, and operating the county roadway system in a cost-effective and environmentally responsible manner.
