If you live, work or have a business in Aloha-Reedville, Washington County invites you to a community-wide conversation on Tuesday, March 5 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Aloha High School, 18550 SW Kinnaman Road in Aloha. We’re asking for your input and help to move the Aloha-Reedville Study forward towards a successful completion. There will be an interactive presentation at 6:45 p.m.

Over the past two years, the community has identified a range of livability issues. The Community Discussion provides an opportunity for you to learn about these issues and to provide guidance on alternatives to address them. Examples include:

  • What are the options for building more sidewalks to create safer routes for walking to schools, transit and shopping?
  • Redevelopment of existing commercial centers will occur over the next 20-30 years. Are there opportunities to create gathering places that define the community?

For each issue, we’ll present a series of alternatives and ask which you might prefer.

If you’re new to the project, there will be an opportunity to learn more about the Aloha-Reedville Study and what can be expected from this effort. Attendees can also review the community input provided to date and suggest additional ways to achieve the community’s vision.

Andrew Singelakis, Washington County’s Director of Land Use and Transportation, said “We need input from our residents to help us better understand how the community works, what its needs and aspirations are, and how we can work together to achieve them.”

Adolph 'Val' Valfre, Jr., Director of Housing Services, commented “We continue to look for ways to engage community members who do not typically participate in these processes—we want to hear from all voices within the community.”

If you cannot attend the Community Discussion there will be an opportunity to provide input through the project website: www.co.washington.or.us/alohareedville beginning March 6.

Background Information:

The Aloha-Reedville Study and Livable Community Plan is a three-year effort being jointly undertaken by Washington County’s Department of Land Use and Transportation and Department of Housing Services. The study’s primary objectives are to understand the existing conditions within this mostly unincorporated area of Washington County and to develop strategies to enhance the community’s ability to attract investments and be better prepared to accommodate the jobs and housing that regional growth will bring. The study is entering its final year.
