For Immediate Release: Wednesday, May 07, 2014
A contractor for Washington County's Department of Land Use & Transportation will begin pavement grinding and pre-leveling work this week on Boones Ferry Road between Norwood Road and Day Road followed by final paving next week. This preparatory work is scheduled to occur Thursday, May 8 and Friday, May 9. Final paving work will begin Monday, May 12 through Friday, May 16. Preparatory and paving work will occur between 8 a.m. and 7 p.m. each day. Travelers are encouraged to use alternate routes or expect potentially long delays.
Preparatory work and final paving is weather dependent and will be postponed if the weather changes from the current forecast. During this work, one lane in each direction will generally remain open; however, additional lane restrictions may be necessary at certain times.
This project widened Boones Ferry Road between Norwood and Day roads to two travel lanes with an intermittent center turn lane, bike lanes on both sides of the road and a sidewalk on the west side of the road. The project is funded through the County’s Major Streets Transportation Improvement Program (MSTIP) and the Oregon Transportation Investment Act (OTIA).
