Original Release:
Washington County's Department of Land Use and Transportation will need to close the northbound lanes between the frontage roads on Bethany Boulevard at the U.S. 26 (Sunset Highway) overpass on Tuesday, August 20 (changed to August 21) from 5:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. in order to place the final layer of pavement on the overpass.
During the closure, traffic will be detoured over to Cornell Road, using the frontage roads on the north and south sides of the highway. Expect delays in the area or use alternate routes.
This project is widening Bethany Boulevard between Cornell Road and West Union Road, including the U.S. 26 overcrossing. Additional improvements include bicycle and pedestrian facilities, street lighting and utility upgrades. The project is funded through the County’s Major Streets Transportation Improvement Program (MSTIP). Construction is anticipated to be completed by summer 2014.
