Washington County Transportation Development Tax (TDT) rates will increase by 8.32%, effective July 1.
Once the annual adjustment takes effect, the TDT rate for a single-family detached home, for example, will be $12,433 – $955 more than the FY 2024-25 rate of $11,478.
TDT is imposed on new development to help pay for transportation needs created by development. TDT rates are based on the average estimated traffic generated by the type of new development. TDT is paid by developers to fund transportation projects such as road improvements, sidewalks and bike lanes. TDT rates are automatically adjusted each year, pursuant to County code Section 3.17, based on a five-year rolling average of road construction, labor and right-of-way costs. Increases are capped at 10% per year.
