Additional winter shelter opens at Wingspan

An additional emergency overnight shelter at the Wingspan Event and Conference Center has activated for those who continue to face power outages.

Due to prolonged power outages and winter weather, Washington County has activated an additional no-turn-away shelter at the Wingspan Event and Conference Center located on the Westside Commons/Fair Complex at 801 NE 34th Avenue, Hillsboro. This location is served by TriMet bus routes 46 and 48.

The Wingspan shelter will be open 24-hours a day until Wednesday, will provide some meal options and families with children are welcome. Pets are welcome too as long as their owners bring them in crates or cages along with their own pet supplies.

If someone outside is unsheltered and whose life appears to be in danger, call 9-1-1. Otherwise, if you see someone about whom you are concerned during cold weather call the police non-emergency number at 503-629-0111 and request a welfare check.
