This free three-part series will provide a safe and welcoming space for caregivers to connect with each other, learn new skills and get access to community resources.

For the second consecutive year, Washington County’s Family Caregiver Conference will take place virtually. The 18th annual conference, with a theme of Building a Community for Caregivers, will be offered via 10 online workshops during November, which is National Family Caregivers Month.

Due to the coronavirus pandemic, Washington County is unable to hold their annual Veterans Day ceremony this year. Instead, they will televise and livestream a tribute on Wednesday, November 11, starting at 11:11 a.m. The program will last about an hour.

Just like every other conference this fall, Washington County’s Family Caregiver Conference will take place virtually for health and safety reasons.

In recognition of the 30-year anniversary of the start of the “Gulf War Era,” the Washington County Board of Commissioners plan to issue a proclamation at their August 18 meeting in honor of all veterans who served during this period.

Washington County Disability, Aging and Veteran Services (DAVS) is conducting a community survey about the needs of veterans, older adults and people with physical disabilities. The survey is available in multiple languages online and in hard copy upon request. It will remain open through August 31, 2020.

Attendees will learn about special techniques, proper preparation, and helpful products and supplies to help those with dementia bathe without the fear and fighting.

Caring for someone living with Alzheimer’s disease or related dementia can be challenging and overwhelming. Washington County Disability, Aging and Veteran Services is offering a free six-week training geared toward helping unpaid caregivers.

The 16th annual Washington County Family Caregiver Conference will take place on Friday, November 15, 2019, from 8:30 a.m.-3 p.m., at Tuality Health Education Center, 334 SE 8th Ave, Hillsboro.
