Kristine Adams-Wannberg

Kristine was elected Washington County Auditor in May 2022 and took office in January 2023. She is the third person and first woman to hold the office since its creation as an elected position in 1980.
Kristine has performed auditing, program evaluation, strategic planning, and financial analysis for state and local government for over 20 years. She joined the Washington County Auditor's Office in September 2019, after working several years at the City of Portland, OR. At Portland Audit Services, she led the Portland's Fiscal Sustainability and Financial Condition: Long-term financial position needs attention audit in 2013, which won a Knighton Award from the Association of Local Government Auditors (ALGA). She also staffed the Police Investigations: Improvement needed to address relatively low clearance rates audit in 2005, another Knighton Award winner. She led several Service Efforts and Accomplishments reports that won awards from the Association of Government Accountants.
Kristine earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from the College of Idaho and her Master of Public Administration degree from Portland State University. She is a Certified Internal Auditor (CIA), a Certified Government Auditing Professional (CGAP), and a member of the Institute of Internal Auditors.
Kristine has served in many leadership roles in the Association of Local Government Auditors. She has chaired the Professional Issues Committee and the Annual Conference Committee, and she served as the organization's treasurer and in 2018-19 she served as its president. She currently serves on the Advocacy Committee. She has authored many articles in the Local Government Auditing Quarterly, presented at conferences, and planned regional trainings.
Kristine serves as a community volunteer on audit and budget committees for several local governments, including the City of Hillsboro, the Hillsboro School District, the Oregon Department of Revenue, and Metro.
Kristine loves being a Washington County resident! In her free time she likes to explore natural areas, garden, read, fish, and enjoy time with her family.
Fiona Howell Earle
Senior Management Auditor
CIA, CA, BA Modern History Hons.
Fiona performed financial audits in the United Kingdom before moving to Oregon in 2001. She did performance auditing at Pacific Power for nearly four years and at the City of Portland for over 12 years. She was the contract manager for Portland's financial audits and federal Single Audits, as well as performing other technical, expert services. Fiona joined the Washington County Auditor's Office in December 2019.
Fiona earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Modern History at Oxford University, Lincoln College in the United Kingdom.
Fiona is a British Chartered Accountant and is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW). She is a member of the Institute of Internal Auditors and holds the Certified Internal Auditor designation. Fiona is also a member of the Association of Local Government Auditors (ALGA). She is a member of ALGA's Professional Issues Committee, has served on an ALGA peer review team, and authored an article on conducting a citywide risk assessment in the Local Government Auditing Quarterly.
Fiona is currently a community member on the City of Tigard's Audit Committee.
Sherry Kurk
Senior Management Auditor
CISA, BS Accounting, BHJ degree, magna cum laude
Sherry is a proud Canadian! She worked in government and non-profit sectors for over 12 years there before moving to the United States. She worked as an accountant in the Oregon private sector for many years, before working for the Oregon Secretary of State, Oregon Audits Division. She began her audit career as a financial auditor and within three years, moved over to information technology audits, a specialized form of performance auditing and her passion. She joined Washington County in January 2020.
Sherry earned her Bachelor of Human Justice degree (within the faculty of Social Work) from the University of Regina, Canada. She earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from Linfield College. In 2024, Sherry received a Professional Certificate in Building Cyber Resilience from Portland State University’s Mark O. Hatfield Cybersecurity and Cyber Defense Policy Center.
Sherry is a Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA). She is a member of the Association of Local Government Auditors, ISACA.org (an independent, nonprofit, global association that focuses on best practices and knowledge for information systems), and the Institute of Internal Auditors.
During her personal time, you will often see Sherry walking her dog, Canook, working on her property, building something, or gardening. Life is rarely boring for her living on her acreage.
