For concerning situations related to the shelter that do not need police intervention, on-site staff can be contacted on a 24-hour basis to advise or assist. Concerns may also be raised (during business hours) to County management staff providing oversight on the project. They may be reached by emailing [email protected].

Nearby residents or business operators who have specific safety concerns regarding troubling, disruptive or potential criminal activity are encouraged to contact non-emergency dispatch at: 503-629-0111.

If a situation appears to be physically threatening or dangerous, call 911 for an immediate, emergency law enforcement response.

Multiuse paths create a safer, more comfortable transportation opportunity for people of all ages and abilities to walk, bike and roll between their neighborhoods, the elementary school and the future park. Washington County’s Board of Commissioners gave staff direction to build a 10-foot multiuse path with a 4-foot planter area between the path and the street along Kenny Terrace (the future Thompson Road alignment).

Many of the existing trees have outgrown the available space and are causing damage to the sidewalks. The project includes planting new tree species that are more appropriately sized for the space and surrounding facilities.

We have a multi-disciplinary team that works together to address your specific needs. The team includes:

• Master's-level clinicians who will meet with you for initial assessment, stabilization and safety planning.
• Bachelor's-level service coordinators to assist you with connecting to other agencies for ongoing treatment, referral to community resources, navigating various provider systems and problem solving.
• Peer support specialists who have lived experience with mental health challenges and/or addiction and have specific training to support you.
• Psychiatrists and psychiatric mental health nurse practitioners who provide urgent medication evaluation and consultation.

Additional mental health treatment facilities, including secure residential treatment facilities, are urgently needed to provide services to defendants charged with serious and violent crimes who are released from the Oregon State Hospital before they are able to assist in their own defense. Funding for workforce expansion is also critical to ensure we have enough highly trained staff to do this important work.

Oregon’s long history of underfunding our behavioral health system has contributed to this crisis. We need a significant investment of state and federal resources for system expansion and coordination of care. This would help to address a wide range of mental health needs across the community and improve health and safety for all.

As we learned through the temporary Encampment Management Program (EMP), an unmanaged encampment is not sustainable or effective to connect individuals with housing. In order to protect the best interests of surrounding neighbors and people experiencing homelessness, Washington County has instead prioritized identifying additional emergency shelter.

Through managed shelter programs, safety is ensured through 24/7 staffing and guests are intentionally connected to needed services. Currently, Washington County offers 426 shelter beds/rooms county-wide and we are actively exploring and planning for additional shelter capacity in the coming year. This approach will allow us to ensure that unsheltered homelessness is a low point in time for individuals experiencing homelessness, and not a long-term reality.
