A COAD (Community Organizations Active in Disaster) is a network of voluntary organizations working together to strengthen community resilience and address the unmet needs of the community in times of disaster.
Sometimes also referred to a VOAD (Voluntary Organizations Active Disaster), COADs and VOADs may be national, regional, state-wide or local. No two COADs are the same - who they are and what they do is tailored to the communities they serve.
The Disaster Services Network (DSN) is a space for local government and community partners to collaborate and coordinate in order to build resilience and better serve our community before, during and after disasters.
The DSN follows a national Community Organizations in Disaster (COAD) model, so you may also hear of the Disaster Services Network referred to as a COAD.
WIC is a program that provides many services to people with a nutritional need or a health risk. These services include:
Grocery stores that will take your WIC card will have a WIC sign posted at the front of the store. When you sign up, we will help you find grocery stores that will work for you.
Any organization with the willingness and resources to respond to a disaster is welcome. This includes for-profit and non-profits, public and private agencies, faith-based and other community-based organizations.
This initiative is in its infancy and we are especially looking for leaders - people and organizations - interested in working together to guide and support this effort.
To qualify for WIC you must meet income guidelines and be in any of the categories below:
