As we close out 2022, Washington County Sheriff Pat Garrett shares an update for our community and commends the work of our remarkable staff over the past year.

On Thursday, December 29, 2022, the driver of a Ford Mustang ran a stop sign and crashed into a Toyota Prius. Deputies developed suspicion that the driver of the Mustang was under the influence of alcohol.

On December 15, 2022, the Washington County Sheriff’s Office and multiple other city agency partners conducted an online sex trafficking mission. Investigators posted online ads on known sex trafficking websites.

On Saturday, October 29, 2022, Washington County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to Toby’s Sports Pub in the community of Metzger to a sex abuse call that occurred the previous night.

On December 8, 2022, Washington County Sheriff’s Office Patrol Commander Caprice Massey graduated from the FBI National Police Academy in Quantico, Virginia.

Washington County Sheriff’s Office deputies and Sherwood police officers responded to a shooting on SW 207th Avenue and Pacific Highway. The initial investigation revealed that 36-year-old Cody Buyas was stalking an ex-girlfriend at her home.

On Friday, December 9, 2022, deputies and detectives from the Washington County Sheriff’s Office partnered with local loss prevention employees to saturate a specific area and deter retail theft.

In September 2022, the Washington County Sheriff’s Office arrested five men who intended to meet children in person to have sex. Michael Thomas Lund continued to message the account for three months, believing he was talking to a child.

On December 3, 2022, at 4:44 p.m., Washington County Sheriff’s Office deputies were dispatched to a crash near 15160 NW Laidlaw Rd. 911 callers reported a car and a motorcycle crashed and the man driving the motorcycle was injured.

On November 28, 2022, at 11:30 p.m., Washington County Sheriff’s Office deputies got information that 25-year-old Anthony Kiontae Czerniejewski was in an apartment in the 2400 block of SW Ecole Ave., within the Enhanced Sheriff’s Patrol District (ESPD).

On November 30, at 11:00 a.m., Jiffy Lube, in partnership with the Beaverton Police
Department and the Clackamas, Clark, Multnomah, and Washington County Sheriff’s Offices, held a joint press conference about catalytic converter theft prevention.

On Sunday, November 13, 2022, A 79-year-old woman called 911 when her son, 44-year-old Benjamin Hershel Ritchie, assaulted her and her caretaker. When deputies arrived, they found the caretaker, 57-year-old Clare Krill, unresponsive on the floor.
