Recent modifications made to four bridge weight limits

Weight limits changes on four bridges were recently approved by the Washington County Board of Commissioners.

The weight limit on South Road bridge, over Tualatin River, was reduced to 8 tons, down from 13 tons. (See map.) The Board approved the reduction during its regular meeting on Nov. 3.

At its Oct. 27 meeting, the Board approved the removal of weight limits on the following:

  • Hobbs Road bridge, over Council Creek
  • Minter Bridge on Minter Bridge Road, over Davis Creek
  • Padgett Road bridge, over McKay Creek

The weight-limit changes resulted from recent Oregon Department of Transportation (ODOT) inspections. Of Washington County’s 184 bridges, 13 are now weight-limited.

Weight limits remain in place until the bridges are either repaired or replaced. The County’s weight-limited bridges are safe for normal traffic not exceeding the posted weight limits. The limits for each bridge are unique, depending on structural integrity and condition. Enforcement of posted weight limits is provided by the Washington County Sheriff’s Office Motor Carrier Officers.
