Media release

For Immediate Release: Friday, August 09, 2013

Sponsored by: Department of Land Use and Transportation, Capital Project Services Division

Update:
The contractor was able to complete more work then anticipated during the first closure (August 23-26), therefore, the second scheduled closure (September 6-9) is no longer necessary and has been canceled.

Original release:
Washington County's Department of Land Use and Transportation will temporarily close Boones Ferry Road at Day Road for two weekends. The first closure will begin at 10 p.m. Friday, August 23 and extend through 5 a.m. Monday, August 26. The second closure (CANCELED) will begin at 10 p.m. Friday, September 6 through 5 a.m. Monday, September 9. Closures are subject to change due to unforeseen circumstances.

During the closures, all traffic will be detoured to Day Road, Grahams Ferry Road and Ibach Street. Detour signs will be provided along the designated detour route. Drivers should anticipate delays.

The closures are related to the Boones Ferry Road (Norwood to Day) project and are necessary to make needed improvements to the intersection at Day Road.

This project will improve Boones Ferry Road to a two and three lane roadway, flattening existing horizontal and vertical curves. Additional improvements include the installation of bicycle lanes on both side of the road, sidewalks on the west side of the road and street lighting.
