For Immediate Release: Monday, July 20, 2009
Washington County's Department of Land Use and Transportation will be grinding up existing asphalt to prepare for fresh pavement on Murray Boulevard and Cornell Road in Cedar Mill beginning Wednesday July 22nd through Saturday August 1, 2009. This work may cause up to 20 minute delays. The public is encouraged to use alternate routes. Message boards will be up and flaggers will be on site helping direct traffic.
This improvement project is reconstructing a vital Cedar Mill intersection. Murray Boulevard north of Highway 26 (Sunset Highway) is being widened to four lanes, with turn lanes, bike lanes, sidewalks and landscaping. Turn lanes are being added to Cornell Road, along with a new traffic signal at Cornell and Science Park Drive. Bike lanes, sidewalks, street lighting and landscaping are also included. This project is funded by county property taxes through the Major Streets Transportation Improvement Program (MSTIP).
