Project Open House, Tuesday April 6, 2010

Washington County invites the interested public to an Open House on Tuesday, April 6, 2010 from 5:30 to 7:30 pm at the Banks Fire District #13, 300 S Main St, Banks, OR 97106. The open house will provide information about the improvements and the construction schedule for the project. Representatives from Washington County and the City of Banks will be available to answer questions.

This project is a joint venture between Washington County, City of Banks Oregon Department of Transportation (ODOT) Rail Division and Port of Tillamook Bay Railroad. The proposed project will improve the intersection of NW Sellers Road and NW Banks Road by realigning NW Sellers Road east of the existing intersection. A road closure will be necessary between NW Sellers Rd and NW Banks Road from July 26, 2010 through August 13, 2010 in order to construct the new roadway alignment and railroad crossing. An adjacent project, the Banks – Vernonia Trailhead project, will be constructed during the same time in order to minimize disturbances to the neighborhood and the traveling public. Improvements will include a paved parking lot, a landscaped trailhead and a paved trail extension from the new parking lot to the existing Banks - Vernonia trail north of the city.

Road work will start in late April 2010 and will be completed in October 2010.

The project will be funded by a combination of the Rural Surface Transportation Program (STIP), City of Banks, and ODOT Rail.
