For Immediate Release: Thursday, October 14, 2010
Washington County invites interested parties to an open house on Wednesday, October 27, 2010 from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Tigard Public Works Building, 13500 SW Hall Boulevard, Tigard, to review and comment on the West Bull Mountain Concept Plan. There will be short presentations at 5 and 6 p.m.
The County began the process in late 2007 to develop a Community Plan for the approximately 500-acre West Bull Mountain area ("Areas 63 and 64", added to the urban growth boundary in 2002), located south of Scholls Ferry Road generally between Roy Rogers Road and 150th Avenue.
The Concept Plan is the first step in realizing this future community of great neighborhoods. It provides the foundation of where different types of housing will be, approximate location of parks and open spaces, street connectivity with the existing neighborhoods, access to major roads, community center and civic uses (schools, fire station) and small retail/business development.
The Concept Plan, when adopted by the Board of Commissioners, sets the stage for more specific creation of a Community Plan and strategies to address how development will be funded. It also anticipates connectivity to adjoining urban reserve areas that may be brought inside the Urban Growth Boundary in the future.
The Open House provides attendees opportunity to:
- Learn more about the project background and planning process from the consultant team and Washington County staff;
- Review the Concept Plan Map and Report culminating more than two years work by other community members (neighbors, property owners, CPO representatives and developers who make up the Stakeholder Work Group)
For those who cannot attend the open house you can review materials on the Web site, www.co.washington.or.us/westbullmt. You are welcome to provide comment at the Planning Commission public meetings; Wednesday, November 3, 1:30 p.m., Wednesday, November 17, 7:30 p.m. and the Washington County Board of Commissioners public meetings; Tuesday, November 9, 10 a.m., and Tuesday, November 23, 6:30 p.m. All public meetings are held at the Charles D. Cameron Public Services Building, auditorium, 155 N. First Avenue, Hillsboro.
