Media release

For Immediate Release: Tuesday, June 30, 2009

Sponsored by: Department of Land Use and Transportation, Division

Washington County's Department of Land Use and Transportation must close NW 173rd Avenue at Waterhouse Creek, just south of Walker Road, from July 15th through Sept 15, 2009, to replace a culvert. Signs and a detour route are posted. Local traffic only will be allowed in the area north of Baseline Road; however, the culvert section will be closed to all traffic (see detour map). 185th and 158th Avenues will be the primary detour routes.

This improvement project will connect Walker Road and Baseline Road along the 170th Avenue and 173rd Avenue corridors. The new three-lane roadway will include bike lanes, curbs, sidewalks, street lighting and landscaping. All alignment options will cross Waterhouse Creek, just south of Walker Road, on 173rd Avenue. A new signal will be installed at the intersection of Lisa Street and 170th Avenue. This project is being funded by county property taxes through the Major Streets Transportation Improvement Program (MSTIP).

For additional information or inquiries about the closure please contact Bill Ihly, Project Manager at 503-846-7831 or by e-mail at [email protected].
